COVID-19 Autumn/Winter Vaccination Programme

The COVID-19 autumn/winter vaccination programme helps protect people who are at higher risk of becoming seriously unwell from COVID-19.

For autumn 2026, the COVID-19 vaccination will be offered to:

  • Adults aged 75 and over
  • People aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed
  • Residents of care homes for older adults

These eligibility criteria are set nationally and may differ from previous COVID-19 vaccination campaigns.

When will vaccinations take place?

The autumn 2026 COVID-19 vaccination programme will begin in October 2026.

If you are eligible, the NHS will contact you when it is time to arrange your vaccination. The NHS advises that eligible people may also be able to use local vaccination services or pharmacies where available.

How will I get my vaccination?

If you are eligible, your GP practice or the NHS will contact you with information about how to arrange your vaccination.

If you are living in a care home, arrangements will be made through the care home.

If you are housebound, you will be contacted about arrangements for receiving your vaccination at home where appropriate.

If you have not heard from the NHS and believe you are eligible, please speak to your GP practice.
